Robert Carder Shoes is a family run independent business with two stores located in Godalming, Surrey and East Dulwich, London SE22. The business is run by Robert, Caroline and Matt Carder.
We (Robert and Caroline) met at seventeen when working for Clarks in Epsom. Since then we’ve continued to work in the footwear industry and have over 70 years’ experience combined.
In 2006 we launched Robert Carder Shoes, taking over a shoe shop in the heart of Godalming High Street that has been operating since 1925. After the success of the Godalming store and with Matt now on board, in 2015 we took over another long-standing business on Lordship Lane in Dulwich that has been selling shoes since 1911. In 2016, the Dulwich shop was completely refitted and extended, allowing us to offer a wider and more complete shopping experience to the community of Dulwich.
We’ve been incredibly lucky to have such loyal customers who visit our shops time and time again to support our business. There’s nothing more rewarding than fitting shoes for the milestones of our customer’s lives – from first shoes, to school shoes, and beyond. With the launch of our new website, we’re looking forward to being able to provide existing and new customers with fantastic customer service and a range of quality footwear for all needs.
All of this would never have been possible without our amazing team who have a wealth of experience and knowledge. Our staff are the beating heart of the Godalming and Dulwich High Street; they really know their customers and this enables them to provide a bespoke and unrivalled service. It’s not always about shoes though, sometimes our customers simply pop in for a chat!
So, whether you’re a new customer to Robert Carder Shoes, or you’ve visited us in store before, we’d like to thank you for your support and joining us as we grow and expand our business. We have lots of exciting developments in the pipeline and our new website is just the beginning!
Thank you for taking the time to read our blog,
Robert, Caroline & Matt Carder
